2. JASON2 DEXTER (DARIUS1) was born 08 May 1825 in Tolland County, Connecticut, and died 04 Mar 1890 in Somers, Connecticut. He married ELIZABETH ROOT 28 Nov 1845 in Willington, CT, daughter of Ralph Root and Elizabeth Staples. She was born 25 Feb 1826 in Ware, Massachusetts, and died 01 Jan 1892 in Somers, Connecticut.

 

Both Jason and Elizabeth are buried in the West Cemetery, south side of Rt 190 in Somers, Connecticut. Also buried there are their two sons and their wives, their grandson and Jason's sister. The gravestone is on the Gravestones page.

3. JOSPHINE MARIA3 DEXTER (JASON2, DARIUS1) was born 06 Jul 1848 in Stafford, Connecticut, and died Sep 1907 in Somers, Connecticut. She married JAMES S MEACHAM 14 Mar 1873. He died 13 Jul 1919.

5. CHARLES ALBERT3 DEXTER (JASON2, DARIUS1) was born 16 Apr 1854 in Monson, Massachusetts, and died 15 Apr 1925 in Springfield, Massachusetts. He married NELLIE ESTELLE GARDNER 01 May 1882 in Enfield, Connecticut, daughter of FRANCES GARDNER and JULIA GAYLORD. She was born 22 Nov 1864 in Somersville, Connecticut, and died 15 Jun 1941 in Glover, Vermont.

 

Both Charles and Nellie are buried in the West Cemetery, south side of Rt. 190, Somers, Connecticut along with Charles parents, Jason and Elizabeth, his brother George and his wife Martha, George's son Clarence, and Jason's sister, Phoebe. This stone is on the Gravestones page.

 

Charles and Nellie bought themselves a large family Bible and presented it to themselves in May of 1898, after 17 years of marriage. This Bible is the one referred to in Aunt Nonie's Notes and Letters. I contacted the current holder of the Bible, Peggy French, widow of Stuart French, 6 ii in this genealogy, and she was gracious enough to have us for a visit in May of 2008 and I got to see the Bible and photograph it. It is over 110 years old at this point and a priceless family treasure. It can be seen on the Dexter Family Bible page.

7. JENNIE FLORENCE4 DEXTER (CHARLES ALBERT3, JASON2, DARIUS1) was born 12 Apr 1885 in Somers, Connecticut, and died 05 Nov 1933 in Springfield, Massachusetts. She married CHAUNCEY DEPEW PHILLIPS 08 Sep 1906 in Hartford, Connecticut, son of ROBERT PHILLIPS and MARY WEYANT. He was born 09 Feb 1881 in Springfield, Massachusetts, and died 25 Nov 1918 in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Both Jennie and Chauncey are buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Springfield, Massachusetts, along with their daughter and my grandmother, Beulah Phillips Maragos Cortelli and her first husband, Manuel Maragos. These graves can be seen on the Gravestones page.
