William and Julia's son, William Jr. died 11 Aug. 1887 in Holyoke, MA and according to his death record, is buried here, in South Hadley Falls, as is his wife, Julia, who died in Amherst, MA 5 Mar 1863. We did not find their graves; however, we did find a few Gaylord markers, the one to the left being the most prominent. Since it has been over 100 years since their deaths, there is any number of reasons their graves are not marked (notice the stone leaning against the family marker) and this is a good example of how knowing where someone is buried does not necessarily mean you will find their specific grave. And yet, William Jr.'s parents' grave, above, is still marked today. You just never know. William Jr. and Julia are #11 in the Gaylord Genealogy.

William Gaylord and Lydia Hitchcock were my Dad's 4th great grandparents.
Their son, William Jr. was married to Julia Gaylord (no relation) and had two daughters, Julia and Ellen. Julia married Francis Gardner and became the mother of Nellie Estelle Gardner, who married Charles Dexter and is known to Dad as "Grandma Dexter".
Lydia's parents are still unknown to me at this time. (7/15/08)
William and Lydia are #9 on the Gaylord Family Genealogy.
