Something interesting to note on this census: just above George and Julia Law is the George W. DRUM family.
Living with them is their son, George F. and his wife Lucy (Clinton) and their 1 year old daughter Carrie. This census was taken 15 June 1880.
George and Lucy's twin daughters Fannie and Frankie were born about a month after this on 21 July 1880.
Fannie Drum would later become Romaine Law's wife. He is listed as being 3 years old on this census.
Notice, also, that living with George Drum is a
91 year old man named William listed as being George's father.
This is a great way the censuses help to identify the names of individuals' parents, especially when you do not have access to the town's vital records. Before I saw this census, I did not know George's parents' names. From here, I knew to look at older censuses, for a William, born about 1789. In the 1870 Windham census, I found him, along with his wife, Elizabeth. That census also indicated her age and place of birth.
From this, I could continue to trace backward.
