John Law House

built 1737

This home, built by John Law's son, John, is located on Piper Rd. in Acton. The owner was not home when we stopped by, but I wrote a letter and they kindly responded sending me a large packet of information on this house and the Law family in general.

To read more about this house, see John Law House 1737.

John Law Farm Site

ca. 1666

This house, built about 1774, is on the site and possibly the

foundation of the home John Law lived in until his death in 1707.

We made a trip to Concord in October of 2006 to find anything available

on the Law family. When we arrived here, the present owner very graciously gave us an impromptu tour, explaining the original home had burned down

in the late 1700's and this one was moved here from another farm near by.

She believes the foundation is original to first house.

According to the website "The Acton Minutemen",

Phalen's History of the Town of Acton, p.64 says Titus Law, John Law's grandson, had the "misfortune of having his dwelling consumed by fire" in 1774. It was probably Titus, then, who lived here at that time and had the new home moved on site. Titus served in the Revolutionary War, along with several of

his family members including his brother, Stephen Law; his nephew,

Thomas Law; and his son, known as Stephen Jr.

Titus' nephews Reuben and James Law, were among those in the battle

at the Old North Bridge, where their Captain, Isaac Davis, died in the fight.

This home is located on School St in Acton,

less than 3 miles from the Old North Bridge in Concord.
